Like many writers, I started with short stories. I love the form. Without pre-amble, the writer is forced to get right into the story. If we do our job right, they hit like Mike Tyson with a grudge, and leave an impression that haunts you in the quiet hours when you can’t sleep.
Here are a few of my favorites.

The PushRunner-Up in the Short Fiction Break 2017 Winter Writing Contest.

The Game – The old writer sat at his typewriter. His fingers raced across the keys, searching for his muse. Today someone else showed up.

The Garden – Maggie just wanted to be left alone, to putter in her garden. Her son has a different idea.
